Projects > Stormwater > Longford Park Pond Upgrade
| Project: | Longford Park Pond Upgrade |
| Client: | Papakura District Council |
| Contract: | Pond Upgrade |
| Location: | Longford Park, Papakura |
Wetland Solutions was able to complete this project on-time and within budget. The project underlines the benefits of implementing a wetland planting when conditions are better suited to wetland plant establishment.
Works included:
Longford Park Pond plays a key role in trapping sediments contained in stormwater run-off from the surrounding new housing and road catchment areas.
Stormwater sediment control ponds generally require maintenance every 15 – 20 years; this requires the excavation/removal of sediments and re-planting.
The project was designed to facilitate the maintenance up-grade of an existing 15 year old sediment control pond and public amenity.
Newly constructed forebays with planted deep and shallow zones improves the retention of sediments.
Stage 1 – weed control, spread bark mulch and establish the associated riparian and amenity plantings during the winter of 2004.
Stage 2 – aquatic weed control and establish the wetland planting during the spring/summer of 2004/05.
